151st Infantry, State Color. Composed of men from Susquehanna, Pike, Warren, Juniata, Berks, and Schuylkill counties, the 151st included over a hundred schoolteachers and was led by Colonel Harrison Allen for a nine-month period. The regiment organized in September 1862 and received the state color that November. Four color-bearers were shot down at Gettysburg, 1863. The regiment was mustered out of service on July 27, 1863.
